A feast to remember

I've enjoyed some pretty delicious food since I got here, as well as made some myself.  I've enjoyed fine vietnamese cuisine from Pho Tau Bay on the West Bank, a delicious sandwich with meat, sauce, and onions from Bud's Broiler and tonight some delectable Mexican food from Tacqueria Corona.  Last night I cooked with Susie and Kathleen and made some stewed okra with tomatoes and some crazy good peanutbutterandwhitechocolatechipchocolatecookies!

Mark took me for a long walk around his neighborhood today, we saw Loyola and Tulane, the frat row is something new to me, but it seems to jibe with the general feeling that I've picked up here. There's a lot of social gathering but it has such a different feel to it.  It's more social and fun, less pressured, everything here is just a lot more relaxed, I love it.  These pictures are from walking around Uptown

My lack of posts

Unfortunately somewhere in North Carolina my camera was stolen from me in a greyhound bus station terminal bathroom, that's why I haven't uploaded any other pictures.  In addition to this, Wi-Fi in buses and terminals hasn't made it past Virginia for Greyhound, so I didn't have access to this blog.  However I've arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana.  It's so far a beautiful city, I woke up this morning and had an omelette, bacon, and some iced cool-brew with milk(look it up, it's delicious) We're heading out to see some of the sights, I'll have some pictures up tonight.

Richmond, VA

Just arrived in Richmond, Virginia, it's definitely bleak here, no restaurants or gas stations or nothing round here, just auto yards, a small athletic field and this station.  The greyhound restaurant has expired food and just doesn't seem like the best. I should probably grab something to eat at the next rest stop, for now pretzels will do.

Got in around 1120, one hour layover, took some pictures, but nothing really interesting and I wanted to try and grab a good seat for the next bus, I'm going to start writing my short story now, not really sure about what, but I feel like there are so many ideas in my head, the least I could do is get them on paper.

Woke up at 6am this morning on my way to New Orleans, had to pack my backpack when I woke up.  Still tired.  Got on the bus at 7 and fell asleep till around 9am, stopped at a rest stop for a little.  So far this whole place looks really familiar, I've been drifting in between sleeping and taking pictures.

Introduction

My name is Dylan Cohen, I'm a first-year student at Oberlin and for winter term this semester I'm documenting a trip I'm to taking to New Orleans, I'm riding greyhound buses exclusively to get there, this form of travel is one of the more affordable ways to travel and I hope that I can see more of the United States because I haven't done much traveling south of D.C.  I will also be taking pictures of interesting things I see.
