My Final Days

My final days have been filled with fun, this trip to New Orleans has been a beautiful experience.  Here are some of the last pictures I took.

CRAWFISH

interesting quote

Yo la tengo

Yo la tengo
ANGEL!

An iron tree in a forest

A tower of music

Earth shattering

A man of many words

A warped horse, grazing in the graying grass

Evolution

Reminds me of a Gungan warrior

Lazy Days

I haven't been doing much these past couple of days except for relaxing, but just cause' I've been relaxing doesn't mean I couldn't get some decent pictures in there.  I've had some pretty incredible meals here(not pictured, beignets and cafe au lait from Cafe Du Monde) and the weather's been great too.  Went to see some live music last night, and I couldn't stop dancing till we left Frenchman street.

Port of Call burger - one of the best I've ever had

Shrimp and Oyster Poboy from Crabby Jacks, located right next to the seafood market, fully dressed and delicious

A little sunset fishing?

Jazzland

Yesterday was an adventure.  On my ride into New Orleans I saw a mammoth structure which appeared to be a roller coaster, my sightings were confirmed by the man sitting next to me, Tree, who explained to me that this was Jazzland, later renamed Six Flags: New Orleans.  The amusement park was shut down after Katrina and has not reopened since.  I couldn't think of a cooler place to visit.

Unused monitors

Abandoned alleyways

 Welcome...welcome...welcome

I enjoyed capturing the curves and corners

A pair of rusted fans, one still blowing in the wind

Rusted toolkit

The bottom of a water ride

Endless staircase

My best shot of the day, in my opinion, the light just worked out perfectly

A drowned downed clown

Absolutely a messy kitchen

The water line is visible

Shadows illuminate the ground

Chains and chairs

A view from the roof

The computers are useless

Thibodeaux and Galliano

Today was a very adventurous day.  We've now driven through almost every neighborhood in New Orleans, and some outside of it.  We were sent on a mission to buy beef jerky from a meat market in Thibodeaux which has been open since the late 19th century. After we successfully acquired the jerky we went over to Mark's family's property in Galliano and I got to see where he had spent his weekends as a kid.  It's a really gorgeous place, which has been pretty much taken over by a huge corporation that collects all of the off-shore oil and stores it for processing.  I'm learning a lot about this city and its culture, it all makes sense after putting it in perspective.
When I woke up I made myself a breakfast burrito!

The French Quarter

Yesterday, Mark and I went to the French Quarter, which is pretty much the Times Square of New Orleans.  I haven't seen so many antique stores on the same block since I was in a ritzy mall in Boca Raton, Florida.  The street music is certainly more appealing here than in Times Square however.  The French quarter is exactly like it's named, French.  It's a remnant of the influence that the French had over the city.  The street signs are on the sides of buildings on the corners, very similar to European cities.  Today was a fun packed day, and I should post about it soon, we left the city limits and saw something completely new.
